A battery is not automatically part of a good solar system. It earns its place when there is a real gap between generation and use.
In short: this article is general information for the fictional Solara Energy portfolio demo. A specific property always needs assessment against its own roof, wiring and usage.
The question is timing, not total generation
A household or business that uses most of its electricity while the sun is generating gets little benefit from storage. A battery earns its cost back when there is a genuine, regular gap between when electricity is generated and when it is used, most often evenings.
Backup power is a separate function from self-consumption
Storing surplus daytime generation for evening use, and keeping essential circuits running during a power cut, are two different jobs. Not every battery and inverter combination supports both, and the difference is worth checking before assuming a battery covers an outage.
Sizing a battery against real usage, not a round number
A battery sized against actual evening and overnight consumption, based on real usage data, tends to perform better than one sized to a standard capacity. An oversized battery rarely finishes charging; an undersized one rarely lasts through the evening it was meant to cover.
Storage is a decision, not a default
A battery is worth adding when the numbers show a real gap to fill. Where they do not, a battery-ready design that allows one to be added later is usually the more sensible starting point.

Property-specific next step
Turn the article into a useful question about your own property.
Send the roof, electricity context and the decision you are trying to make. The next step should be an assessment, not another generic article.
